Live Local Scam in Miami Beach
Live Local Scam in Miami Beach

“Affordable housing” is a powerful political sales pitch. This buzzword invokes a false promise for teachers, restaurant and hospitality workers, and families struggling to stay in their communities. Florida has used that promise to justify an egregious out-of-scale development, which would decimate the small-scale pedestrian-friendly urbanism Miami Beach possesses, thanks to its historic DNA. Once that urban fabric is demolished, it's gone forever, and so is the flourishing lifestyle it once made possible.

Vicki Lopez eagerly advocated for the "Live Local Act." According to reports from Axios and The Real Deal, the real estate industry provided more than 70 percent of the funding for her reelection. And then Russell Galbut so nobly attempted to leverage "Live Local Scam" for his real estate projects in Miami Beach. They are both incredibly well-intentioned and community-focused individuals, so Miami Beach residents should all just blindly swallow their PR lies instead of asking any pesky questions.

If your vision for Miami Beach is to replace our iconic boutique streetscape and pedestrian friendly, close-proximity lifestyle with a row of towering generic mega-condos, then Lopez/Galbut tandem is your Dream Team. A vote for Lopez is a vote to rubber-stamp the 'Sunny Isles treatment' for our community, trading historic charm and open sunlight for hyper-dense development and gridlocked traffic. If you want our neighborhood sold off to developers and transformed into a perpetual construction zone, make sure to cast your ballot for the developers' puppet Sticky Bogus.
